Surface preparation

27 November 2018

Surface preparation is extremely important when applying any self adhesive material and unfortunately is overlooked on many occasions. It’s not rocket science, just some important things to do to ensure the tape bonds correctly.

Ensure any surfaces are clean and free of dirt, dust, rust, flaking or peeling paint, oxides, oils or grease. If need be, abrade the surface so that you have a clean and smooth surface to bond to. When you have finished cleaning the surface wipe over with an IPA based cleaner and a lint free cloth to make sure that there is no residue left on the surface. Under NO circumstances use methylated spirits or turps as these are oil based and can leave a residue that can affect the bond. With some materials such as low surface energy plastics, you may need to apply a primer to the surface before tape application.

Company update

13 November 2018

2018 has been an extremely busy period for us. February saw us expand into the other half of the building complex which has more than doubled the production and warehouse space that we had previously. Also at this time Ben Skinner was appointed as our new account manager. Ben has extensive knowledge not only of the self adhesive tapes available but also all of the converting methods that we utilise. Since coming on board his contribution has helped us grow in all areas of our business. June saw us install our fourth slitting machine. This new slitter gives us increased capacity and enables us to continue with our fast turn around times for slit products.
